A five-year old baby girl was raped sometime on Saturday allegedly by a 65-year old man in Dhaka city’s Kadamtali area.
The incident came to light on Sunday when the victim’s family filed a case with the Kadamtali police.
The victim was brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at about 11:30pm on Sunday, the police said.
Confirming the matter, Kadamtali police sub-inspector Ashok Kumar Sarkar on Monday said that the victim’s mother ran a scrap metal business in the area and was out of home at the time of the incident.
‘The victim’s family alleged that Mohammad Yusuf Ali Patwari, 65, from the same area lured the child with chocolate and took her to the third floor of a closed factory, where he raped the five-year-old,’ he said.
Yusuf was made accused in the case, SI Ashok added.
The victim was admitted to DMCH’s one-stop crisis centre, he said, adding that efforts were on to arrest the accused.
