The Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, three front organisations of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, on Monday announced for May various programmes to be held in the country’s four major regions — Chattogram, Khulna, Bogura and Dhaka.

The announcement was made at a press conference at the BNP’s central office at Naya Paltan in the capital Dhaka.

Under the directive of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, the party has grouped its 10 organisational divisions into four larger regions to implement the initiative as part of its ongoing movement to restore democracy in the country.

At the press conference, Juba Dal president Abdul Monayem Munna said that their aim was not merely to initiate a political movement, but to strive for a development-oriented, production-driven and people-friendly system of governance, where young people would be not only voters but also future policymakers, thoughtful partners and architects of a just state structure.

He said that the BNP was determined to establish a democratic, transparent, accountable, and inclusive state following the spirit of sacrifice shown by the July uprising martyrs.

The first event under the joint initiative will be held in Chattogram, with a seminar on May 9 followed by a rally on May 10.

The second programme will take place in Khulna in May 16-17, which will include a seminar and a rally.

The third programme which will cover the Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, will be held in Bogura, with a seminar on May 23 followed by a rally on May 24.

The final programme under the initiative will be held in Dhaka in May 27-28, involving the regions of Dhaka, Faridpur, Sylhet and Mymensingh.

A seminar will be held on May 27 and a rally with the call for establishing political rights for the youth on May 28 will be organised in Dhaka.

Swechchhasebak Dal president SM Zilani and general secretary Rajib Ahsan, Juba Dal general secretary Nurul Islam Nayan, Chhatra Dal president Rakibul Islam and its general secretary Nasir Uddin, among others, were present at the press conference.  Â
