The 11th biannual conference of the History Alumni Association of Rajshahi University was held on its campus in Rajshahi on Friday with the call for more study and research in the applied field of history.

Professor Sanat Kumar Saha addressed the opening ceremony at Senate Bhaban as a chief guest, while vice-chancellor professor Golam Sabbir Sattar spoke as a guest of honour with the association president professor Mahbubur Rahman in the chair.


Pro-VCs professor Sultan-Ul-Islam and professor Humayun Kabir also spoke. Chairman of the Department of History professor Ferdousi Khatun welcomed the participants.

On the occasion, professor Chittaranjan Mishra was given lifetime award as recognition of his laudable contribution to the field of history education and research. Besides, Adila Akter Nipa (2020) and Subasta Naim (2021) were given prizes for their brilliant result in their respective BA (honours) examinations.

Earlier in the morning, the association president opened the two-day conference by hoisting flags along with releasing festoons and pigeons on the premises of Dr Shahidullah Academic Building.

Later, they brought out a colourful rally and paraded the campus.

Around 300 alumni are taking part in the biannual conference.
