A Dhaka court on Monday placed three individuals on a seven-day remand each in connection with the killing of Jahidul Islam Parvez, a third-year student of Primeasia University, in the capital鈥檚 Banani area on April 19.
The accused are Al Kamal Sheikh, Alvi Hasan Zunayed and Al Amin Dani, aged between 19 and 20 years.
Dhaka鈥檚 additional chief metropolitan magistrate Md Sanaullah issued the order after they were produced before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
Banani police station officer-in-charge Md Rasel Sarwar said that a team of Banani police arrested them from Mohakhali Wireless Gate area early Monday.
鈥楾hey are not named in the first information report, but primary investigation suggests they were involved in the murder. CCTV footage also confirmed their presence at the crime scene,鈥� added the police official.
On April 19, Jahidul Islam Parvez, a student of the university鈥檚 Textile department, was stabbed to death during a clash with a group of fellow students and outsiders on the university premises.
He was an activist of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
The victim鈥檚 cousin Humayun Kabir filed a case with Banani police station early Sunday accusing 38 people, including two leaders of the Students Against Discrimination for their alleged involvement in the murder.
