Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the state has the ability to eliminate Kuki-Chin from the country within just an hour.
'We are monitoring the situation in the hill areas and will take appropriate action against the group in due course,' the minister stated.
He made this comment while replying a question from a journalist after joining the freshers’ reception ceremony of Jahangirnagar University’s 2022-23 academic session as chief guest on Thursday.
Claiming the government aware of the recent tension created at the hill tracts, the minister said, ‘Anyone threatening the country's sovereignty will be treated according to state law.’
The minister, however, refused to comment on frequent killings along Bangladesh’s border.
Presided over by JU vice-chancellor Nurul Alam, member of the University Grants Commission Professor Sazzad Hossain addressed the ceremony held at Zahir Raihan Auditorium of the university as keynote speaker.
JU pro-vice-chancellors Manzurul Haque and Mostafa Feeroz, treasurer Rasheda Akhter, and registrar Abu Hasan, among others, addressed the ceremony.
