
Three Rohingya people were killed and three others injured in a shooting by miscreants in Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox鈥檚 Bazar on Monday morning.聽
Earlier, the Rapid Action Battalion arrested five suspected members of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army including a top ranking leader.
The deceased were Md Elias, 31, son of Zafar Ahmed of F block, and Md Isahak, 54, son of Abdur Rakim, residents of Camp 4, and Firoz Khan 18, son of Md Ismail of E block of Camp-3.
Officer-in-charge of Ukhia police station Md Shamim Hossain confirmed the matter.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Cox鈥檚 Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy and legal action in this regard was under process, he said.
A leader of Rohingya Camp 4 seeking anonymity said that the incident occurred as the consequence of a conflict between ARSA and RSO (Rohingya Solidarity Organisation).
On Monday dawn, RSO members allegedly shot at Elias, known as source of ARSA, at around 4:00am.
Later, ARSA members allegedly shot RSO supporters Ishaq and Feroze and fled.聽 Elias died on the spot while Ishaq and Feroze died in the hospital.
The captain of the 14 Armed Police Battalion Md Iqbal said that currently the situation in the Rohingya camp was normal. Legal action would be taken after investigating who has carried out this murder, he added.
Earlier on Sunday night, RAB arrested five suspects including Shahidul Islam alias Maulvi Oli Akiz of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army.聽
At the same time, they seized a cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives, said RAB-15 chief Lieutenant colonel HM Sajjad Hossain at a press conference on Monday.
On secret information, RAB raided Rohingya camp 4 on Sunday night. They arrested Five ARSA member with local and foreign weapons from a hideout, he said.
The RAB official said that Md Shahidul Islam is ARSA chief Ataullah Jununi鈥檚 bodyguard and a key figure involved in the planning of the murder of Rohingya leader Master Mohibullah and the infamous Seven Murders in the Rohingya camp.
There are a total of 21 cases filed against him over various crimes, including 13 murders, one weapon possession, two kidnappings, two assaults, one robbery and another case under the Explosives Act at Ukhia police station in Cox鈥檚 Bazar. There are multiple cases against the other four arrested.
The arrested have been handed over to Ukhia police station, the RAB official said.
