Dhaka Metropolitan Police鈥檚 detective branch chief and additional commissioner Harun or Rashid and joint commissioner for operations Biplab Kumar Sarkar have been transferred from their respective posts.
Harun鈥檚 transfer order was issued days after the six detained coordinators of Students Movement Against Discrimination, a platform for quota reform protest, announced withdrawal of their protest programmes during a briefing at the DB office under the police custody.
Other coordinators and co-coordinators of the platform rejected the announcement saying that it was taken forcibly at gunpoint.
The transfer was revealed in two separate office orders signed by the DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman on Wednesday night.
Harun has been appointed as the additional commissioner for crime and operations at DMP Headquarters while Biplab was appointed as the joint commissioner for admin and detectives-south.
Md Ashrafuzzaman of DMP鈥檚 logistics, finance and procurement was made the new DMP DB chief.
The orders will come into effect immediately.
Apart from Harun and Biplab, additional commissioner for crime and operations KH Mahid Uddin was transferred as additional commissioner for logistics, finance and procurement while DMP joint commissioner for admin and detectives-south Sanjit Kumar Roy was transferred as joint commissioner for detectives-north.
DMP joint commissioner for dtectives-north Khandaker Nurunnabi was transferred as joint commissioner for operations.
