A leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party died and two other farmers were injured after being struck by lightning at Pakundia in Kishoreganj on Monday.
The deceased was Abu Taher Mia, 50, a resident of Char Kawna Moishakanda area in the upazila.
According to people of the area, Taher Mia, a member of BNPs Jangalia Union convening committee, along with two farmers, went to work in his vegetable field early in the morning.
Suddenly, rain accompanied by a storm began and they took shelter in a water pump house located on the land. At that time, lightning killed Taher instantly and injured two others, they added.
Officer-in-charge of Pakundia police station M Sakhawat Hossain said that the body was recovered and handed over to his family as there was no complaint.
