Former Dhaka University geography and environment department professor Mohammad Abdur Rob joined the Manarat International University as acting vice-chancellor on Monday. 

He was given the responsibility according to the unanimous decision of the board of trustees meeting at the Cordova Hall of the university’s Gulshan campus on Monday, said a MIU press release on Tuesday.


Abdur Rob called upon the teachers and staff to work united to realise the dream that the university started with to build ‘A Centre of Academic and Moral Excellence’.

He also prayed for the eternal peace of the students and people, including two students of the MIU Md Shakeel Hossain and Md Ahnaf Abir Ashrafullah, who were killed in the Student Movement Against Discrimination,

He also expressed his firm belief in making the university the best university in the country through the joint efforts of all, prioritising the facilities of the students, said the press release. 

Professor Mohammad Abdur Rob was previously appointed as the VC of Manarat International University and later served as an honorary member of the university’s board of trustees.
