‘Chief adviser Muhammad Yunus is expected to open the fair and hand over the Bangla Academy Literary Award 2024 on the academy premises,’ the member secretary of the fair committee, Sarkar Amin, said at a press conference on Thursday at Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of the academy.

Bangla Academy director general Mohammad Azam, and the academy secretary, Md Selim Reza, among others, spoke at the press conference.

‘We focus on security and the environment of the fair, especially washrooms, food courts, prayer and parking zones as well as cleaning during the fair,’ Sarkar Amin said, adding that more than 300 closed-circuit cameras and lights will be set up on the fair premises and its surroundings to ensure security, and they will spray water and insecticides every day.

Mohammad Azam said that the annual event would be exciting by the active presence of participants including visitors, publishers, journalists and organisers.

‘We work with democracy and inclusiveness at every stage of the fair, including the stall allocation.

‘Most of the publishers requested open pavilions instead of the rules of the pavilion,’ said Mohammad Azam.

The fair will remain open from 3:00pm to 9:00pm every day except holidays. Visitors will not be allowed to enter the fair after 8:30pm.
