The Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday filed separate cases against former minister Dipu Moni and her husband Tawfique Nawaz on the charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 7.88 crore.

ACC filed the cases with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1, said ACC director general (prevention) Aktar Hossain in a briefing at the commission鈥檚 headquarters in Dhaka.

According to the case statement, a case was filed against Dipu Moni, also a former Awami League lawmaker for Chandpur-3 constituency, on the charges of abusing her power and acquiring assets worth Tk 5.92 crore beyond known sources of income.

The ACC also found suspicious transactions of Tk 59.79 crore in 28 bank accounts in her name.

The commission also filed another case against Tawfique Nawaz on the charge of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 1.96 crore.

Dipu Moni was arrested at the capital鈥檚 Baridhara DOHS on August 19, two weeks after the fall of the AL regime amid a student-led mass uprising.

She is now in jail in connection with a number of cases, mostly for crimes committed during the mass uprising.
