The Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish on Monday proposed to use the term ‘multiple thoughts or paths’ instead of the word ‘pluralism’, which was proposed by the Constitution Reform Commission as one of the constitution’s fundamental principles.
In a meeting with the National Consensus Commission at the LD Auditorium of Jatiya Sangsad, the party leaders argued that the word ‘pluralism’ was contradictory to the concept of the oneness of Allah.
Led by the party’s senior joint naib-e-ameer Maulana Yusuf Ashraf, the party delegation also opposed the idea of dividing Bangladesh into four provinces.
The meeting between the Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish and the NCC began at about 10:00am. NCC vice-chairman Professor Ali Riaz chaired the meeting.
Earlier, the party submitted its feedback to the NCC-provided 166 key reform proposals, agreeing to 147 points, disagreeing to 15, and partially agreeing to four.
The party delegation discussed the issues relating to the Election Reform Commission’s proposal to elect the union parishad chairman through votes by UP members instead of direct public votes.
After the meeting, they said that they had not reached to consensus on the issues they disagreed with.
The party secretary general Jalal Uddin Ahmed and joint secretary general Tofazzal Hossain Miazi were also present.
Later in the afternoon, NCC met a six-member delegation of Jatiya Gana Front.
The party coordinator Tipu Biswas led the delegation while NCC members Badiul Alam Majumder, Safar Raj Hossain, Iftekharuzzaman and chief adviser’s special assistant Monir Haidar were present. Â
