
Bangladesh’s largest retail chain shop ‘Shwapno’ has decided to buy vegetables directly from farmers and give them to customers at affordable prices against the backdrop of price spiral, said a press release.
Shwapno authorities said that they were buying products directly from farmers in several areas including Manikganj, Bogura. Several vegetables including brinjal, green papaya, gourd, pointed gourd, ladies fingers, cucumber will be sold at its outlet on Friday and Saturday at a much lower price than the open market.
Sabbir Hasan Nasir, managing director of Shwapno, said, ‘The life of the lower class, lower middle class and middle class has become very difficult due to inflation. At this time, to give them some relief, we have decided to bring the vegetables directly from the farmers and deliver them to our customers at a much lower price than the market. For now this initiative is starting with eight vegetables and its range will increase further.’
