The members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested a fugitive convict who was sentenced to 17 years of imprisonment in an arms case, in a drive in Masterpara area of Feni city after 22 years.

The arrested is identified as Monirul Alam Minar, 43, a resident of East Ukilpara area in Feni.


Minar was arrested on Wednesday night, said Mohammad Sadekul Islam, RAB-7 Feni camp captain in a press conference on Thursday.

He said that Minar was absconding since 2002 after being sentenced in an arms case filed at Feni model police station.

On July 20, 2002, a Feni court sentenced Minar in an arms case to 17 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10,000.

During the primary interrogation, Minar admitted the crime and confessed that he changed his name and address to avoid being arrested by the law enforcement forces since filing the case.

RAB official Sadekul Islam also said that Minar was handed over to Feni model police station for further legal action.
