
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University vice-chancellor Professor Md Giasuddin Mia has been elected co-chairman of the scientific planning group of the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research, a regional organisation in South and South East Asia comprising 23 nations.
It should be noted that BSMRAU vice-chancellor is now in Indonesia at the end of a week-long official visit to China, Mongolia and Indonesia.
He will hold this position for the next two years by the unanimous consent of the representatives of all the countries present at the organisation鈥檚 bi-annual conference held in Jakarta for four days. The other co-chairman is Fiji scientist Anesh Singh.
The co-chairmen will be active members of the steering committee of the organisation to regularly determine the content of research on contemporary issues of the region, call for research projects on assigned topics, select and evaluate proposed projects.
