The Public Security Division of the home ministry has sought a suggestion of the Public Service Commission about the 鈥榝orced retirement鈥� of former additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md Golam Saklain as punishment for his 鈥榠mmoral relationship鈥� with actress Porimoni.
The allegations of misconduct against Saklain were proved in a departmental proceeding, according to the letter of the Public Security Division under聽 home ministry signed by its deputy secretary for Discipline-2 Section Rokeya Parvin Jui on June 13.
Saklain is now working as an additional superintendent of police posted at the In-Service Training Centre in Jhenaidah.聽
The departmental proceeding against the former Gulshan Division detective branch ADC Golam Saklain began in August, 2021 following several media reports about unprofessional conduct with Shamsunnahar Smriti, professionally known as Porimoni, while supervising the investigation in her case.
The case was filed with Savar police station on June 9, 2021 by the actress against five people, including businessman Nasir U Mahmud for attempted rape and murder at Boat Club at Ashulia in Dhaka.
Analysing the detail call record of Saklain鈥檚 phone by Police Department鈥檚 LIC branch from July 4 to August 4 in 2021, it was found that Saklain stayed at the house of the actress at different times.
Reviewing the forensic report of Porimoni鈥檚 mobile phone seized by the Criminal Investigation Department, it found exchanges of messages between Primoni and Saklain through messenger from July 29, 2021 to August 3, 2021 and the conversation was not professional one, but showing the immoral love affair.
Analysing CCTV footage of Rajarbagh Madhumati Police Officers鈥� Quarters from 6:00am on August 1 and 3:00am on August 2 and witnesses鈥� testimonies, CID forensic department reported that Saklain had spent about 17 hours with Porimoni at the house when his wife was not at home.
The report also said that Porimoni left the house at about 1:30am on August 2.
In 2021, Saklain was transferred to the Public Order Management division from the detective branch of DMP amid widespread criticism over his intimacy with actress Pori Moni.
Saklain joined the police force through the 30th Bangladesh Civil Service recruitment examination.聽
Pori Moni was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion on August 4 in Dhaka and a case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed against her with the Banani police station on August 5, 2021.
Porimoni got bail on September 1, 27 days after her arrest.
