At least 125 people have been arrested so far over their alleged involvement in sabotage during the quota reform system movement in the government job across the country.

Emran Khan, media officer of the Rapid Action Battalion headquarters, on Sunday told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that 48 people were arrested over sabotage across the country.


The ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Rangpur reported that seven people, including Rangapur City Corporation’s Ward 23councilor Liton Parvez, were arrested for their alleged involvement in sabotage.

Deputy commissioner of police in Rangpur Abu Maruf Hossain said that five cases were filed over incidents of vandalism, arson attack in clashes during quota protests.

The ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Gazipur reported that police arrested 70 people allegedly involved in sabotage during the protests.

The Gazipur Metropolitan Police commissioner Mahbub Alam said this during a press conference on Sunday.

He said that 95 per cent of the arrested hailed from other districts.

‘At least 17 police men have been injured for the past few days. The condition of one of the injured police men is critical,’ he added.

Assistant inspector general of Police headquarters for media and public relations, Enamul Haque, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that he could not give the information immediately as they were still preparing the data.

‘We will provide the information as soon as the data is ready,’ he added.
