The authorities of Rajshahi College on Tuesday decided to suspend all kinds of political activities on the college campus and hostels for an indefinite period.
‘In view of the students’ demand, we have decided to impose a suspension on all kinds of political processions, meetings and other activities on the college campus and hostels until further notice,’ said vice-principal professor Md Ibrahim Ali.
He said that following the students’ demonstrations, ultimatums, and written applications, they held a meeting of the college’s Teacher Council where top administrative officials and all departmental heads gave their opinions to suspend the political activities on the college campus and the hostels.
Professor Md Ibrahim Ali said that they would forward the students’ application demanding a ban on student politics on the college campus and the college authorities’ decision to the higher authorities concerned.
‘We will follow what the higher concerned authorities direct us,’ he added.
Earlier amid student protests on August 12, Rajshahi College principal professor Md Abdul Khaleque stepped down from his post citing personal problems.
