
Six people were killed and at least 50 others injured by being shot or stabbed as two local rival groups clashed over establishing supremacy at Charanchal Srinagar of Narsingdi鈥檚 Raipur upazila.
The incident took place at Syedabad village of Srinagar union in the Char area of the upazila between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.聽
The deceased are Firoza Begum, 50, of Baghaikandi village, Class IX student Junaid Mia,16, of Sayedabad village, Anis Mia, 30, of the same area, Amir Hossain,70, Tofazzal, 30, and Abu Siddiq, 25.
The injured were undergoing treatment at Raipur Upazila Health Complex, Narsingdi District Hospital, and Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
According to local people, there was a long-standing dispute between the former member Shah Alam group of Syedabad village of Srinagar union and Firuz member group of Baluchar village.
The dispute escalated into clashes between the two groups, starting on Wednesday night, involving gunfire exchanged by both sides, leaving six people killed on Thursday morning.聽
Raipur police station officer-in-charge Safayat Hossain Palash said that four people were killed during the conflict over establishing dominance, and two other persons died while being transported to Dhaka for better treatment.
He said at about 6:00pm that the situation in the area was under control.
