Rajshahi University physics department Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of the university on Thursday.
A gazette notification, signed by Shahinur Islam, deputy secretary (government general university) of secondary and higher education division of the education ministry, stated that, with the approval of the president and chancellor, Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib has been temporarily appointed as the vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University as per section 11 (2) of the university act, 1973.
Earlier on August 11, Professor Naqib resigned from the BNP-backed Rajshahi University Nationalist Teachers鈥� Forum.
In a Facebook post, he wrote, 鈥楧uring a period of transition in the country, about a decade ago, I became a member of RU Nationalist Teachers鈥� Forum. After that soon I realised the differences of opinions on several issues. I refrained from participating in any meeting, procession, assembly, rallies or human chains of the forum for at least six to seven years. I don鈥檛 want to continue this membership.鈥�
