Several thousand students under the banner of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on Wednesday blocked the Supreme Court Annex Bhaban demanding the resignation of High Court judges loyal to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Students took to the streets on the entire Supreme Court premises at about 12:15pm.
Protesting students said that they would not leave the place until their demand was met.
Earlier in the morning, different private university students held a rally in front of the Annex Bhaban while lawyers brought out a procession pressing the same demand.
Addressing the event, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement coordinator Hasnat Abdullah placed three-point demands, including removal of Aawami League-backed judges by 2:00pm on Wednesday.
He said that they would not leave the court area until their demands were met.
‘Our second demand is removing all Awami League-panel lawyers across the country. Third demand is banning Bangladesh Chhatra league for their involvement in extremist activities,’ said Hasnat, adding that, the AL had lost its relevance for doing politics in Bangladesh.
