
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh, in an overnight drive, detained two people, including a Myanmar citizen from Sylhet border area.
The BGB personnel had detained Shafiul Alam, 55, from Jaliapara area of Tekhnaf early Sunday . . . 240 rounds of rifle bullets, one rocket bomb, two grenades and one compass in two separate bags were also recovered from the spot, said a BGB press release, signed by Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) commander lieutenant colonel Md Mohiuddin Ahmed.
During the interrogation, Shafiul confessed that the ammunitions were smuggled from Myanmar a few days back. The detained person was handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for legal action, it added.
BGB Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) commander lieutenant colonel Md Hafizur Rahman informed that they detained a Myanmar national – Md Anisur Rahman, 20 – from Jhingalabari border area on Sunday.
An inhabitant of Mongdu district of Myanmar, the youth entered Bangladesh territory about seven years ago and used to stay at Cox’s Bazar FDMN (Rohingya Camp) but he fled the Rohingya camp in quest of a good job, the detained admitted during a preliminary interrogation.
The Myanmar citizen was handed over to the Jaintapur police station, the BGB release added.
