Chief adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is in completely sound health, his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed today.
‘Last night, we got a huge number of phone calls and they inquired about the health of Prof Yunus. We want to inform you that he (chief adviser) is in completely sound health and well,’ he told a press briefing in front of the state guest house Jamuna in Dhaka.
Alam said the chief adviser held a meeting with a Bangladesh Nationalist Party delegation today as part of the ongoing dialogue of the government.
Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Mahfuj Alam were present at the meeting, he said.
The chief adviser’s press wing released a huge number of photos on the meetings that he joined during last week as the press secretary said Professor Yunus held meeting on Tuesday and also was present at a meeting with the BNP leaders.
Replying to a question, Alam said the government is holding talks with the political parties and as part of it, the meeting was held at the state guest house Jamuna in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Replying to another query over removal of president Mohammed Shahabuddin, he said the government has not taken any decision so far to this end and it asked those who are demonstrating in the surrounding areas of Bangabhaban to leave the place.
Rumours were spread over the illness of Professor Yunus as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University formed a medical team on Tuesday for the treatment of the chief adviser.
Later, BSMMU vice-chancellor Professor Md Sayedur Rahman in a statement asked all not to spread rumours over the medical team for the treatment of the chief adviser.
Professor Sayedur said the BSMMU forms such medical teams regularly to provide treatment for the heads of state and government and it is a routine matter (work).
