The Judiciary Reform Commission chief, Justice Shah Abu Nayeem Mominur Rahman, said on Sunday that preparations were under way to seek stakeholders’ opinions for drafting proposals on the rules for appointing Supreme Court judges.
He disclosed the information while talking to reporters after chairing the commission’s meeting at the Law Commission Building in Dhaka.
Mominur, also a retired judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, said that the commission would soon send invitation letters to the stakeholders.
Retired High Court Judges, Justice Emdadul Haque and Justice Farid Ahmed Shibli, Bangladesh Supreme Court’s former registrar general Syed Aminul Islam, former district and sessions judge Masdar Hossain, Dhaka University’s law department associate professor Quazi Mahfujul Hoque Supan, and senior SC lawyer Hussain Shawn attended the meeting.
