At least seven people were killed and six others injured in road accidents in Gopalganj, Jhenaidah and Shariatpur between Sunday night and Monday.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that two locally-made easy bike passengers were killed and six others injured in a road accident at Phukra Bus Stand in Kashiani of Gopalganj on Monday.


The deceased were Din Islam Khan, 21, of Mollabari village under sadar upazila, and his nephew 8-year-old Hussain Molla, of Terokhada area of Khulna.

Kashiani highway police station officer-in-charge Md Abul Hossain Majmuder said that the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Rajib Paribahan hit the easybike in the area.

In another incident, the BSS reported that a driver of a Nasiman, locally-made vehicle, was killed as the vehicle fell into a roadside ditch at Nagarbathan Ghospara crossing on the Jhenaidah-Chuadanga road in sadar upazila of Jhenaidah district on Monday.

The deceased was Sher Ali, 55, a resident of Kanchanpur Madhyapara in Jhenaidah municipality.

Arappur highway police station officer-in-charge Mrityunjay Biswas said that the nasiman fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost his control over the vehicle due to dense fog.

Meanwhile, four motorcyclists were killed in a road accident near Padma Bridge south toll plaza in Shariatpur on Sunday night, the BSS reported.

The deceased were Nabil Faraji, 18, Sayam Madbor, 19, Arman Dhaly, 18, and Khidir Madbor, 20, hailed from Shariatpur district, said the police.聽聽

The accident occurred at around 9:00pm when two motor cycles collided head-on, leaving them critically injured.

They succumbed to injuries on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
