The chief prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Mohammad Tajul Islam, on Thursday, condemned a rally staged by Gana Odhikar Parishad leader Nurul Huq Nur and his followers outside the tribunal’s gate in Dhaka.

The rally demanded Tajul’s resignation, accusing him of meeting with leaders of the ousted Awami League and Jatiya Party.

A press release issued by Md Masud Rana, the tribunal’s chief prosecutor’s administration officer, denounced the allegations as ‘concocted and baseless,’ asserting that they were intended to tarnish the reputation of the tribunal and its chief prosecutor.

Masud further described the rally as unlawful, alleging it was an attempt to interfere with and influence the tribunal’s ongoing proceedings concerning crimes against humanity linked to the July-August students’ movement against discrimination.
