
At least five people, including a minor boy and an Australian national, were killed and two others injured in road accidents in Rajshahi, Tangail, Lakshmipur and Cox鈥檚 Bazar between Thursday evening and Friday.聽聽聽
抖阴精品 Correspondent in Rajshahi reported that a motorcycle rider and his pillion were killed when a passenger bus hit their motorcycle and ran over them on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway at Godagari upazila in Rajshahi.
The deceased are Ashraful Islam, 42, and Nazmul Haque, 30, residents of Kamalkantpur Kazipara village of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj.
Mahabubur Rahman, a firefighter of Fire Service and Civil Defence Godagari upazila station, said that the accident took place at about 3:30pm on Friday when the bus ran over them in the Avoya-Kamarpara area.
Godagari model police station inspector for investigation Moazzem Hossain said that legal action would be taken if the family members filed complaints.聽
Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that a man was killed and two others were injured in a collision between a pickup and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Tangail-Mymensingh road in Kalihati upazila in Tangail on Friday.聽
The deceased is Anowar Hossain, 40, hailed from Haringyachala village of Sakhipur upazila.
Elenga highway police station officer-in-charge said that the injured people were sent to Tangail General Hospital, while the body was kept in the hospital morgue.
In another incident, a minor boy was killed after being hit by a bus on the Lakshmipur-Dhaka highway in the Joksin Bazar area under Sadar upazila in Lakshmipur on Friday, the BSS reported.
The deceased is Ahnaf Hossain, 7, son of Shafiqul Alam, a resident of Jadaiya area under the sadar upazila
The accident took place when a bus of Jonaki Paribahan hit him while he was crossing the road in the area, leaving him dead on the spot at around 2:30pm, said Chandraganj highway police station sub-inspector Md Nur Mohammad.聽
Police seized the bus, but its driver and helper managed to flee, the SI said, adding that legal action is under way in this regard.
An Australian national, meanwhile, died in a motorbike accident on the Cox鈥檚 Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive road in the Inani Sonarpara area under Ukhia upazila on Thursday evening, the BSS reported.聽
The deceased is Daniel Paul, 49, a resident of Sydney.聽
When Daniel was driving a rented motorcycle on the road, he hit a roadside tree after losing control over the steering at about 6:00pm, leaving him dead on the spot, said superintendent of police of the district, Mohammad Rahmat Ullah.聽
The police sent the body to Cox鈥檚 Bazar Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination and the Australian Embassy in Dhaka was informed of the death,聽聽 said Ukhia police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Arif Hossain.
Daniel Paul, who arrived in Cox鈥檚 Bazar four days ago, was staying at Modern Resort in the Kalatali area.
