Security beefed up at the Daily Star Centre at Farmgate in Dhaka as a small group of protesters staged sit-in programme in front of the building on Friday.
The group of about 50 people gathered at the entrance of the Daily Star Centre after the Friday prayers. Due to the tense situation, Dhaka Metropolitan Police personnel took position on the Daily Star Centre premises on security reasons.
The protesters tried to create trouble there by denouncing English daily The Daily Star. Together, they also performed the Asr prayers, blocking the footpath and the Kawran Bazar-Farmgate Road partially.      Â
The group continued their protest until some Bangladesh Army personnel, also members of joint forces, arrived on the spot at 5:00pm.
The protesting people accused the English daily The Daily Star and the Bangla daily Prothom Alo of being ‘agents of India’.
The Daily Star authority didn’t provide any official statement on the protest.
