A Sunamganj court on Monday granted bail to former planning minister MA Mannan in another case filed for alleged vandalism and torching of an office of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
Mannan’s counsel Khairul Kabir Rumen said that the former planning minister appeared before the court of the district judicial magistrate in the morning and sought bail in the case.
‘Judicial magistrate Nirjan Kumar Mitra passed the order after hearing on the petition,’ the lawyer said.
He said that BNP leader Abdul Noor filed the case on November 19 with the Jagannathpur police station accusing the former planning minister and 49 others of vandalising and torching the office of the upazila’s Sadar union unit of BNP.
On October 9, Sunamganj district and sessions’ judge Hemayet Uddir granted bail to Mannan in another case filed with Doarabazar police station on September 2 allegedly for attacking a rally of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement activists in the upazila town.
