The police on Tuesday recovered the bodies of four members of a family, including parents and their two children, from a house in Ranibazar under Bhairab police station in Kishoreganj.

The deceased were Johnny Biswas, 38, his wife Nipa Biswas, 33, their son Nabu Biswas, 7, and daughter Katha Biswas, 4. Police said that Johnny was working as a worker at a local workshop.

Local people said that Johnny Biswas lived with his family on the seventh floor of a seven-story building of Shahjahan Mia in Ranibazar area.

On Tuesday evening, local residents became suspicious as the doors and windows of the house were closed since the morning and there was no sound heard from the flat.

Later, local people entered the house breaking open the door and found Johnny hanging from the ceiling fan of the house while bodies of his wife and children were on the bed and floor.

Bhairab police station officer-in-charge Shahin Mia said that police believed that Johnny might have committed suicide after killing his wife and two children.

Local people and police said that he was mentally disturbed due to a family feud over a huge amount of debt. Police are trying to find out the reason behind the incident.

The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj Hospital for autopsy, OC Shahin said, adding that preparations for a case were underway in this regard.
