‘In the history of the Dhaka University Teachers’ Association, such an incident has never occurred. There have been many protests, but we’ve never faced such an issue here.’
Dhaka University’s vice-chancellor, professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, on Saturday afternoon visited the site along with the university proctor, Saifuddin Ahmed Khan, and several others.
Following the visit, the vice-chancellor said, ‘As soon as the DUTA leaders informed us, we deployed the proctorial team. I want to tell the students that although their grievances may be valid, those grievances should not be expressed in an uncontrolled manner.’
The proctor said, ‘After reviewing CCTV footage, the DUTA members will provide us with evidence and details of those involved.’
