
A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court on Sunday placed four leaders and activists of the Awami league-backed banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, including former BCL central executive committee vice-president Nishita Iqbal Nodi, on two-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act 2009.
The three others are BCL Dhaka University’s Shamsunahar Hall unit joint general secretary Alfatara Kajol, BCL Jahangirnagar University unit activist Hasan Imam Sohel and BCL American International University of Bangladesh unit activist Shovon Mozumder.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as the Kalabagan police produced them before his court seeking seven-day remand in the case, said court officials.
Kalabagan police station officer-in-charge Motkeruzzaman said that they were accused in a case filed with the police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act 2009 on Friday.

In the early hours of Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police detective branch arrested BCL former vice-president Nishita Iqbal Nodi in Basundhara Residential Area and BCL Dhaka University’s Shamsunahar Hall unit joint general secretary Alfatara Kajol in Chandrima Udyan area in the capital, said DMP DB chief Rezaul Karim Mallik.
