The kidney transplant service has resumed at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Super Specialised Hospital on Monday.

BSMMU vice-chancellor professor Md Shahinul Alam inaugurated the resumption of the service in the morning, said a press release.


BSMMU pro-VC (administration) professor Md Abul Kalam Azad, pro-VC (research and development) professor Md Mujibur Rahman Howlader, treasurer professor Nahreen Akhter, newly appointed director (additional charge) of the Super Specialised Hospital and dean of basic science and para clinical science faculty professor Saiful Ullah Munshi, registrar professor Md Nazirul Islam, proctor Sheikh Farhad, chief of the transplant programme and urologist professor AKM Khurshidul Alam, renal transplant programme coordinator professor Touhid Mohammad Saiful Islam Dipu, additional director Mohammad Shahidul Hasan, and assistant professor Abu Hena Helal Uddin Ahmed, among others, were present.

In Monday鈥檚 32nd kidney transplant, the donor was 50-year-old Kohinur Begum from Noakhali, and the recipient was 48-year-old Sahara Begum from Dhaka.

On July 28, kidney transplant was done for聽the last time, marking the 31st transplant, at the Super Specialised Hospital.
