The Border Guard Bangladesh Day-2024 was celebrated on a limited scale in all regions, institutions, sectors and units of the BGB on Monday.

Home adviser lieutenant general (retired) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury was present as chief guest at the event, said a press release.


On the occasion, BGB director general major general Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui hoisted the regimental flag and paid tribute to the brave martyrs of the War of Independence by placing a wreath at ‘Simanta Gaurab’ at Pilkhana at 06:50am.

Ashrafuzzaman gave welcome address at the function, while special assistant on home affairs to the chief adviser M Khuda Baksh Chowdhury and home secretary Nasim Ahmed spoke as special guests.

Seventy-two BGB members received medals for outstanding career performance on the occasion.

Later, the adviser participated in a reception organised by the BGB for gallantry liberation war veterans and their family members.

Advisers, special assistants, three service chiefs, coordinators of the July Uprising, civil society representatives, high-ranking military and civilian officials, and journalists were also present.
