Akhaura police officer-in-charge Md Samiuddin said on Wednesday that Farhan confessed to the murder during the initial interrogation.

Sharmin鈥檚 elder daughter, Ruma Akter, however, filed a case with the police station on Tuesday evening, accusing only Farhan.
In the case statement, she claimed that Farhan asked the victim to steal a duck and cook it, and killed her when she refused.
On Tuesday morning, police recovered the burnt body of Sharmin from the house of Farhan, son of South Union Juba League secretary Shahnewaz Bhuiyan, in Rahimpur village, while her dismembered head, severed before her body was set on fire, was found on nearby agricultural land.
According to locals, the victim and her husband, Nurul Islam, had been living in a mud hut on a piece of land belonging to Shahnewaz in Hirapur village for the past 40 years.
Previously, the couple, who has three daughters and all are married off, worked at Shahnewaz鈥檚 house, but they had recently been surviving by begging and doing household chores for others.
Early in the morning, Farhan called Sharmin to their house in Rahimpur village, claiming his mother was unwell, even though Shahnewaz and his wife were not at home.聽
