
United International University’s civil engineering department organised a seminar titled Biomechanics of Mental Health on its campus at Madani Avenue in Dhaka on Tuesday.
University of Illinois’ mechanical science and engineering department professor Md Taher Abu Saif was present as keynote speaker while Professor ABM Badruzzaman, vice-chancellor, BUET, was present as guest of honour at the seminar, which was presided over by executive director of Institute for Advanced Research, UIU, Professor Emeritus M Rezwan Khan, said a press release on Thursday.
Professor Hasan Sarwar, dean, school of science and engineering, UIU and Professor Md Mujibur Rahman, department of civil engineering and director, CSIRS-UIU also spoke at the programme.
UIU proctor Rumana Afrin delivered welcome speech while UIU civil engineering professor Muhammad Mizanur Rahaman gave vote of thanks at the programme.
Md Taher Abu Saif expressed optimism about establishing a micro-electronics lab for higher research in Bangladesh, calling on the country’s higher education institutions, including the BUET and the UIU to work together.
He said that even after a person’s age increases, even after the age of 65, it is possible to maintain the functionality of his brain cells with proper and moderate exercise, walking and hard work.
Emphasising on quality higher education and research, ABM Badruzzaman expressed hope that more work opportunities would be created with the UIU in education, research and innovation.
UIU treasurer Mohammad Abdul Moqaddem, registrar Md Zulfiqur Rahman, and faculty members, students, officials, academicians, government high officials, researchers, journalists and others were present in the seminar.
