The Bus Rapid Transit held an awareness campaign and issued guidelines to ensure order and traffic management in the BRT corridors on the Gazipur-Airport route Tuesday morning.
As per the instructions of road transport and bridges adviser, the campaign was held in coordination with Dhaka BRT Company Limited, said a press release.
As part of the activities, BRT Company Limited managing director, officers, project managers and officers-in-charge in coordination with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (north traffic branch) conducted the campaign on Tongi Flyover in Gazipur.
Only BRTC buses and small vehicles – private cars, ambulances – should enter the BRT dedicated lane, said the BRT in its instructions.
Initiatives have been taken to broadcast audio messages at various locations along the BRT corridor for constant alert and awareness. Also, signboards, signals, and banners are being arranged with various instructions. Besides, 12 student representatives have been temporarily assigned the task of conducting traffic operations as volunteers on Tongi Flyover to assist the traffic police.
