
The Social Services Club of United International University has recently distributed winter clothes to support the destitute people in a cold-stricken area of Koyra in Khulna, said a press release on Saturday.
The members of the UIUSSC collected over 2000 old but usable聽clothes聽by setting up a booth on the UIU campus. They also raised funds from the faculty members, administrative staff and students of UIU for the聽Winter聽Clothing聽Programme. Additionally, faculties and officers of the UIU willingly donated a good amount of money to purchase blankets.
A team from the UIUSSC distributed 400 blankets, 2000 warm聽clothes and 600 units of petroleum jelly to more than 750 families in three villages of the upazila.聽
Professor Md Abul Kashem Mia, vice-chancellor of UIU, expressed heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the faculty members, administrative officers, and students of UIU for standing beside the cold-stricken people, added the press release.
