
Politicians, academics and people from all walks of life on Tuesday showed paid their last tributes to former Dhaka University professor Mohammad Anisur Rahman at Central Shaheed Minar.
Economist and Rabindranath Tagore exponent Anisur Rahman died on Sunday in a Dhaka hospital. He was 91.
His body was kept at Central Shaheed Minar for one hour from 11:00 am to 12 noon for people to pay tributes.
Leaders of different political parties, including Communist Party of Bangladesh, Socialist Party of Bangladesh, Ganosamhati Andolan, Revolutionary Workers Party, Bangladesh Juba Union, organisations, including Bangladesh Shilpakla Academy, Bangla Academy, Khelaghar Asar, paid tributes laying floral wreaths on his coffin.
In the evening, economic adviser Salehuddin Ahmed came at his paternal house at Segun Bagicha to pay tributes to Anisur, former professor and chairman at the department of economics of Dhaka University and a member of Bangladesh鈥檚 first planning commission.
His body will be taken to his village home in Netrakona today after Namaz e Janaza聽following Zuhr prayers at the Segun Bagicha mosque.

Professor Anisur, who received his PhD in economics at Harvard University in the United States in 1962, was Nobel laureate economist Amartya Sen鈥檚 classmate at St Gregory鈥檚 High School in Dhaka.
For his contribution to Rabindranath Tagore鈥檚 music and literature, professor Anisur was awarded Rabindra Puraskar in 2004.
