An assistant sub-inspector was killed in a road accident in Mymensingh鈥檚 Muktagacha upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was Md Rustam Ali, 42, an assistant sub-inspector of Muktagacha Police Station. He was a resident of village Kalikachcha of Sarail upazila in Brahmanbaria district.
The accident took place on Saturday afternoon at Satrasiya in Muktagacha on the Mymensingh-Tangail Road.
Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Muktagacha Police Station, said that ASI Rustam Ali was returning to the police station riding his motorcycle after performing his duty in Mantala area of Kumargata union on Saturday afternoon.
On the way, at a place called Satrasiya on the Mymensingh-Tangail Road, a water drums-laden truck coming from the opposite direction hit his motorcycle, leaving him seriously injured.
He was rescued and taken first to Muktagacha Upazila Health Complex and later to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Rustam joined Muktagacha Police Station as an ASI on March 16 last year.
