Today is the fourth anniversary of death of the founder of non-government organisation Association for Social Advancement, Md Shafiqual Haque Choudhury, said a press release.

Born on January 1, 1959 at Dakshin Narpati of Chunarughat in Habiganj, Shafiqual Haque Choudhury founded the ASA in 1978 and later ASA University, ASA Mats, ASA International and Hope for the Poorest.


He also served as an adviser to the agriculture, youth, sports and cultural affairs of the caretaker government during 2006-2007.

He made contributions to poverty alleviation, women empowerment and socio-economic development of the country.

His achievement earned him recognition and widespread fame both at home and abroad.

He died in Dhaka on February 12, 2021.
