
The Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday filed a case against former member of parliament from the Khulna-6 constituency Md Akhtaruzzaman on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk聽3.47 crore.
The commission also filed two separate cases against Akash Kumar Bhoumik, a former councillor of the ward no 59 of Dhaka South City Corporation, and his wife, Popy Rani Bhoumik, on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 19.63 crore.
ACC director general (prevention) Md Aktar Hossain at a press briefing at the commission鈥檚 headquarters in the capital Dhaka disclosed the information on the filing of the cases.
ACC assistant director Sahidur Rahman filed the case against Akhtaruzzaman with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1 on charges of amassing wealth worth Tk 3.47 crore beyond known sources of income.
ACC deputy director Ahsanul Kabir Palash filed two separate cases with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1 against Akash and his wife Popy.
Akash is accused of acquiring illegal wealth worth Tk聽14,96,19,196, while Popy is facing allegations of acquiring assets worth Tk 4,67,68,649 beyond known sources of income.
