A construction worker died on Tuesday after being electrocuted and falling from a five-storey under-construction building in the Batteryghat area of Kamrangirchar in the capital.
The deceased, Taray Sardar, 35, was pronounced dead at about 12:30pm by the on-duty doctors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Another worker named Hasan, 25, was injured in the incident and admitted to the hospital.
Both of them hailed from Kalkini upazila of Madaripur district.聽
Their colleague Mohammad Sojal Howlader, who took them to the hospital, said, 鈥榃hile we were lifting a rod with a rope tied to the fifth-floor roof of the under-construction building, the rod came into contact with an electric wire next to the building, prompting the electrocution.鈥�
DMCH police outpost in-charge inspector Md Faruk said that the police station concerned was informed of the matter and the body was kept at the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
