Students of Rajshahi University on Sunday blocked the Rajshahi-Dhaka highway in front of the university main entrance protesting against the recent incidents of rape and killings across Bangladesh.
Witnesses said, several hundred students brought out a protest procession on the campus at about 11:00am, and staged a demonstration at the university鈥檚 paris road, demanding capital punishment for the rapists.
At about 11:40am, the protesting students blocked the highway in front of the university鈥檚 main entrance, halting the traffic movement on the both sides of the highway.
Later, the students withdrew the blockade at about 12:30pm.
Meanwhile, a group of teachers also formed a human chain at the university鈥檚 Shaheed Intellectual Memorial at about 11:00am, protesting against the recent violence against women and children.
Besides, Magura Zila Samiti also formed a human chain in front of the university main entrance at about 12:30pm.
Meanwhile, students of many departments also boycotted their classes and examinations on Sunday protesting against the violence against women and children.
