
Two people including a police constable were injured in an attack reportedly carried out by a group of drug dealers during a drive at Charghat in Rajshahi on Sunday night.
The injured, Abu Hanif, a constable at Rajshahi district’s Detective Branch of police, and Md Sajib, a police source, took primary treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital following the attack.
Rafiqul Alam, spokesperson to Rajshahi district police and additional superintendent of special branch of police, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that a group of drug peddlers in an organised way carried out an attack on a team of the DB police when they went to Madia village on Sunday night for an anti-narcotics operation.
One of the drug peddlers first stabbed constable Abu Hanif on the hand with a knife, and when Sajib went to save Hanif, the peddler also stabbed him, he said.
The police official said that upon receiving the information of the attack, the local police
immediately launched an operation and arrested four drug dealers with 400 pieces of yaba.
‘Filing a case is underway with the Charghat police station in this regard,’ he added.
