A 32-year-old man died after falling from the roof of an under-construction building while attempting to catch a thief at Courtpara in Kushtia early Saturday.
The incident happened around 2:30am, said Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kushtia model police station.
The deceased, Badal, was a resident of Paschim Majampur area in Kushtia.
A group of thieves had come to steal goods from the building, said the OC.
Badal was among a group of locals who went to the roof of the seven-storey under-construction building to search for the thieves and fell from the roof.
Later, he was rescued and taken to the 260-bed Kushtia General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The authorities are investigating the incident, added the OC.
