The local administration stopped a cultural event midway through the programme organised on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr reunion at Jagannathpur upazila in Sunamganj on Thursday night.
The upazila administration claimed that the get-together, organised without taking any permission, was stopped to avoid any untoward incident.
Local residents said that the cultural activists arranged an Eid-reunion programme at a place adjacent to the South-End of the Kusiyara Bridge at Raniganj union under the Jagannathpur upazila at around 8:00pm on Thursday. The administration also stopped a music session styled 鈥楤aul Sandhya鈥� in the concluding episode of the programme, they said.
A joint team of army and police personnel led by the upazila nirbahi officer Barkat Ullah reached the programme venue at around 11:00pm and stopped instantly the music session which was ongoing at that moment, the locals said.
They said that female Baul artists also had attended the programme to perform songs in the music session.
Contacted, Jagannathpur upazila nirbahi officer Barkat Ullah told 抖阴精品 that there was no government permission for the gathering.
鈥楾he music event caused discontent among local residents,鈥� the UNO said, adding that the event was stopped to avoid any untoward incident.
