Ahamadiyya Jama’at, Bangladesh, an organisation of the Ahamadiya people, on Tuesday condemned the attack on Ahmadiya prayer centre at Bahadurpur under Pangsha upazila in Rajbari.

While no casualties were reported, the prayer space used by local Ahmadiyas was severely damaged, said a press release.

‘At the time when people across the globe are expressing their solidarity with the Palestinians in protest against Israel’s inhumane attacks on Gaza, an attack was carried out on the Ahamadiya prayer centre,’ the release said.

The attack took place at around 5:00pm on April 7, when the tin-shed prayer room was vandalised, and doors and windows were smashed.

Additionally, the place usedfor delivering the call to prayer (Azan) and the pulpit used for delivering sermons were also destroyed.

In a video clip circulating online, a group of protesters were seen chanting slogans against Israeli aggression approached the roadside prayer centre of the Ahmadiyas and at one point, some individuals from the procession began attacking the centre.

The organisation demanded justice for the attack.

It also urged the global powers to take action to stop the brutal oppression of the Palestinian people.
