
The primary and mass education ministry has recently changed names of seven primary schools.
These schools were named after the country’s founding president, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his nephew Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani and Awami League leader and former lawmaker Nazrul Islam Babu.
The ministry published a circular, issued on April 8, in this regard on its website on Tuesday.
As per the circular, the names have been changed following the naming of government primary schools and changing existing names guidelines– 2023.
On March 2, the government changed names of 56 government primary schools which were named after Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his family members and different Awami League leaders.
The Tuesday circular read that the name of Bangabandhu Government Primary School at Kishoreganj Sadar was renamed Bottrish Notun Government Primary School.
The name of 175 Hatikata Sheikh Mani Jnanendra Government Primary School, Gopalganj sadar, Gopalganj was renamed 175 Jnanendra Government Primary School at Gopalganj Sadar in Gopalganj.
At Araihazar in Narayanganj the name of Noadda Nazrul Islam Babu Government Primary School was renamed Noadda Government Primary School, Charlakshmipur Nazrul Islam Babu Government Primary School was replaced with Charlakshmipur Government Primary School, Girda Chowdhury Para Alhaj Nazrul Islam Babu Government Primary School with Girda Chowdhury Para Government Primary School, Palla Alhaj Nazrul Islam Babu Government Primary School with Palla Government Primary School, and that of Dakkhin Baliapara Nazrul Islam Babu Government Primary School with Dakkhin Baliapara Government Primary School.
After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government on August 5 in 2024 names of different educational institutions including public universities, roads and public centres were renamed for the same reason.Â
