A Dhaka court on Wednesday sentenced Anwar Hossain to life imprisonment for raping his stepdaughter repeatedly at Hatirjheel in Dhaka in 2022.
Judge Sabera Sultana Khanam of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 pronounced the judgment in presence of the convict and sent him back to jail with conviction warrant.
Anwar Hossain, 29, hailed from East Sonakhali under Chatkhil in Noakhali, married victim's mother, who used to work as a housemaid in Hatirjheel area.
On August 4, 2022, as the plaintiff went to work, leaving his two children to her husband at home, Anwar threatened the 14-year-old victim, holding a knife on her neck and raped her.
Victim鈥檚 mother filed the case on September 20, 2022. Police on April 1, 2023, filed the charge sheet in the case and the court on August 20, 2023, framed charges against Anwar.
The court on Wednesday came up with the judgment, examining six witnesses on different hearing dates.
